Welcome!  This website is dedicated to the art of Mark Sagona, an artist who works and lives on the island of Gozo, Malta.  Over the past few years, Sagona has established himself as an important exponent among the rising generation of Maltese artists.  This website is a celebration of the artist’s ideas and visions.  These range from the early analytical works, the vibrant and wholly original ‘landscapes’, his energetic and compelling abstract paintings, to the semi-abstract and sacred works.  This virtual space opens a window on his successful past exhibitions and a constant, updated link to his ongoing experiments and researches.

Mark Sagona is also an academic, art historian and an active lecturer.  His studies at the University of Malta, where he is now also a visiting lecturer, have been crowned by outstanding achievements.  His research has brought to light a considerable amount of hitherto unknown and unstudied works of art in the Maltese Islands.  It is only fitting that the website also includes a list of the artist’s writings on various aspects of art history.
